AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary is an expression of a new kind of animal shelter—the long-term animal sanctuary. We provide unadoptable animals with loving care, a nurturing environment that is safe and stable, a place to belong… a home for life.

We provide lifetime care for cats and dogs with special needs, health, age or other issues, who cannot find a home, but who can still lead a quality life. Most shelters offer two options for animals: adoption or euthanasia. A typical family home is not appropriate for every animal. Those who are old, or who have disabilities, health or temperament problems may do better in another setting. AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary believes that these special animals deserve an alternative that will meet their needs. Hence, AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary just sorta happened on it's own and continues to grow. Our unadoptable animals enjoy a quality life, where they can be themselves, run and play, and be loved and cherished for as long as they live.

We believe that animals should live in a setting that is appropriately scaled to allow for individual attention and specialized care. This is why AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary is able to give its residents a quality life and not just a warehoused existence.

At AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary, once an unadoptable animal comes to us, it truly has a home for life. Through our example, we hope to discourage an acceptance of euthanasia for animals who can still live a quality life. Just as apathy can become a way of life, so can empathy.

AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary guarantees all residents the best care available, for life. Through your sponsorship, you will be helping us to continue providing a secure, healthy environment where animals who were formerly abused, neglected, and rejected can thrive and begin again to participate in the joy of being that is the right of all living things. Why sponsor an animal? On average, it requires $202 per month to care for an animal at AVAnimal Rescue Sanctuary. The cost covers salaries for employees, food, vet care and grooming, heat and lights and facility maintenance. Sponsorship provides us with a regular flow of funds to support the promise we've made to these special animals. Funds aren't the only reason we offer animal sponsorship. Sponsorship also supports our mission to foster empathy and strengthen the bonds between people and other living things.
